Summary:

This position is responsible for all pre-sale and post-sale technical aspects of the company’s Commercial and Wholesale revenue growth.  Individuals in this position are responsible for supporting hosted voice customers in the development of Network, Voice, and Data Center solutions for prospective clients and then managing the timely and accurate service delivery of those solutions. This individual must possess the technical knowledge to properly test, certify, and support products for our existing customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Responsible for providing primary technical support to the commercial sales and support teams as well as enterprise voice customers
  • Attend sales calls with Account Executives and assist in the sale by performing technical requirement analysis, technical responses, and reviewing/coordinating complex proposals.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Point Broadband network and assist in accurate cost analysis and pricing for complex voice and data services
  • Serve as primary project manager/contact for Point Broadband staff and the customer and ensure all network components have been identified, procured, and are in place and working prior to the installation due date
  • Deliver technical training to new and existing Point Broadband Account Executives, support staff, and customers.
  • Follow-up with customers to ensure satisfaction with Point Broadband delivered services
  • Act as a resource for all commercial RFP and RFQ responses and produce all technical content required.
  • Coordinate installation and other implementation activities with customers and Point Broadband operations, engineering, customer care, and other staff
  • Assist with key account customers as needed to ensure timely solutions for trouble tickets and change orders
  • Assist in the sales process by mapping out prospect/customer current networks to include locations, circuits, network topology and applications, and then design optimal alternatives to support customer needs with Point Broadband solutions, including but not limited to PRI’s, SIP PRI equivalent trunking, VOIP, Internet, Metro Ethernet, MPLS, Virtualization, Backup and Colocation
  • Perform product hardware, firmware and software certification testing for all devices and software Point Broadband voice solutions; Including, but not limited to, SIP Trunk PBX integration, End-Point Hardware (phones), network devices, and Apps.
  • Work with Product to ensure the supported device list is updated and documented properly for any corrective interop activity
  • Responsible for maintaining and management of a product test lab for support engineering
  • Work with engineering to understand the impact that our hardware and software products have on the network
  • Investigate and resolve quality / functional problems reported from the field or identified in support records
  • Maintain awareness of large customer installations to ensure capital projects meet or exceed defined financial benchmarks
  • Represent an uncompromising commitment to professionalism and integrity in how you and your associates conduct business
  • Assure the quality representation of our services, pricing and deliverables to prospects and customers meet company standards
  • Manage customer and inter-department relationships to ensure satisfaction with Point Broadband services and prompt resolution of issues

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have exceptional organizational skills and be able to multi-task.  They must also be able to provide outstanding customer service and support in a professional manner and in accordance with company policies and standards.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. The candidate must exhibit leadership qualities.

  • Requires three or more years of sales engineering and networking experience in the telecom, broadband, or data service provider industry Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work closely with Account Executives with proven knowledge of the sales cycle
  • Strong skills in sales presentation and proposal design
  • Must have knowledge of Metro Ethernet technologies (ELAN, EPL, EVPL), WANs and LANs
  • Must have working knowledge of TCP/IP, firewalls and VPNs
  • Strong knowledge of industry networking technologies such as TCP/IP, L3VPN, MPLS, VPLS, VPN, Ethernet, VoIP, SONET, DWDM
  • Familiar with various networking fundamentals related to routers, switches, LAN, MAN, WAN, and other CPE
  • Possess a consultative approach to providing customer solutions and design with strong knowledge of converged multimedia applications
  • Extensive voice networking experience with an emphasis on VoIP, Hosted-VoIP, signaling protocols and PBX
  • Ability to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university preferred; or equivalent training, education and experience (preferably with concentration in Computer Science or Telecommunications Engineering Technology)
  • 3+ years experience in the telecommunications industry and strong knowledge of the BroadSoft platform including SIP Trunking and Unified Communications
  • Industry Network certifications preferred (Cisco, Juniper)

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in MS Visio, MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint
