Summary:

This position is responsible for the planning and migration of integrations, maintenance, configuration and reliable operation of our physical and virtualized systems. This position will need to partner with the subject matter experts across the company in support of those teams and will be responsible for collaborative work efforts with various teams to deliver timely and effective solutions that correspond with Point Broadband’s technology direction.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Define and document the overall solution architecture.
  • Work together with stakeholders to comprehend their needs and requirements.
  • Evaluate and select appropriate technologies and platforms for the solution.
  • Develop and maintain architectural standards and best practices.
  • Responsible for the loading, updating, accuracy, and overall management of service location passings.
  • Ensure data integrity throughout the system by developing, updating, maintaining, and correcting data as needed.
  • Ensure that the solution meets performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to development teams.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks and issues related to the solution.
  • Participate in the continuous improvement of the solution and its components.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of our physical and virtualized computer platforms.
  • Install, upgrade, and manage software components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues.
  • Provide documentation and technical specifications to staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of the infrastructure.
  • Responsible for capacity, storage planning, secure backups, and database performance.
  • Provide input into long-range networking requirements and operational guidelines, with a focus on automation and improving the performance and reliability of the systems.
  • Coordinate closely with technology leads from other areas, while leveraging subject matter experts from any needed technical or business area.
  • Collaborate with members of the business, project teams and technical staff as needed to fulfill the responsibilities described above.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, system analysis, related study, or equivalent experience.
  • Exposure to multiple, diverse technologies and system processing environments.
  • 3 years of experience in software development, systems engineering, or a similar role.
  • 3 years scripting and developing software in languages such as Java, Python, Golan, Perl, Ruby or equivalent.
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL query languages for loading, updating, and reporting on data in SQL Server databases.
  • Working knowledge of virtualization, VMWare or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of various technologies, platforms, and architectural patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of systems and networking software, hardware and networking protocols.
  • Experience with scripting (Java, Python, PHP, Golang, Perl, Ruby) and automation tools.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing systems strategies and plans.
  • Knowledge of security, data protection and disaster recovery methods and protocols.
  • Focused, goal driven, and possess an obsessive attention to detail.
  • Must be a team player who can motivate as well as provide coaching as needed.
  • Must be able to work under pressure, along with demonstrating solid time management skills and demonstrate a winning attitude.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.
