Summary:

This position plays a critical support role by organizing, tracking, and coordinating all field activities related to fiber optic outage restoration and repair. This position ensures that restoration efforts are properly scheduled, documented, and communicated between field teams, the Network Operations Center (NOC), and management. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and familiar with fiber infrastructure workflows.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Coordinate scheduling and dispatch of Fiber Operations Specialists for outage restoration, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Serve as the point of communication between field teams, the NOC, and supervisory staff during active outages.
  • Track job statuses, technician assignments, ETAs, and field progress in real-time.
  • Maintain accurate records of all outage tickets, fiber repair logs, work orders, and field activity documentation.
  • Prepare and distribute daily or weekly activity summaries for management review.
  • Assist with the creation and distribution of on-call schedules and technician rotation calendars.
  • Monitor field reports and escalate delays, hazards, or high-priority restoration needs to supervisors.
  • Maintain inventory logs of fiber repair materials and coordinate resupply or staging of equipment for upcoming jobs.
  • Update GIS/mapping and fiber documentation systems with information from completed work.
  • Support the onboarding process by scheduling training sessions and maintaining technician certification records.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies by tracking technician PPE usage and required certifications.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities as assigned.

Education:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in operations coordination, dispatch, or administrative support role.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple ongoing field activities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
  • Availability to assist during emergency events, after-hours, and weekends if needed.
  • Background in telecommunications, fiber optics, or utility operations support.
  • Understanding of OSHA safety documentation and basic telecom terminology.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and scheduling/dispatch platforms.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools, fiber management systems, or NMS platforms.

  • Must be able to work extended hours during major outage events or restoration emergencies.
  • Collaborative, cross-functional role requiring daily interaction with technicians, NOC, and supervisors.
